Our orchard, de Waelde Tuin, is located 4 km from Oost, and the two are inextricably linked. Here, we grow our fruit, vegetables and herbs using entirely nature-inclusive and regenerative methods. This is the 'home' of Texel Apple Juice.
Slow Travel takes on a whole new dimension here. We allow this place to grow wild and let nature take its course. And you become part of that ecosystem. Whether you are staying in Oost or at de Waelde Tuin... you are free to explore for yourself... wander among the fruit trees, vegetable gardens, herb garden and developing food forest.

Would you like to join us on a journey of discovery through our Waelde Tuin?
Here we grow the fruit, herbs and vegetables we use at Oost. Learn not only about their culinary uses, but also which herbs can be used for a cold, or how to create a permaculture vegetable garden and food forest.
Over a glass of our own apple juice, I'll tell you how we work together with nature and about the challenges we face as a farm-to-table destination.
Salty adventure with our oysterman
The old oyster port near our hotel was the beating heart of Texel's oyster and seaweed trade in the 18th century. Here you can collect oysters all by yourself.
Book a salty adventure guided by our oysterman and learn all about the oyster, its history, how to gather them and how to open and enjoy them! Of course, he will open some oysters for you during the tour, which you can enjoy whilst drinking a glass of Vuurzee, Cuvée Prestige, Vonkelbier. The cost for this salty adventure is €39 p.p.

Outdoor Sauna

This sauna experience is all about relaxing at your own pace. Whether you come to truly unwind, enjoy some quality time together or simply disconnect for a while.
No rush, no distractions - just you, the sauna and the sound of birds singing. Leave the hustle and bustle behind and enjoy the warmth and romance of the orchard in complete privacy.

Wild Foraging Tour at Oost
op Oost you will find an abundance of wild and cultivated herbs and edible plants in our edible garden. What may look like a weed to you now could soon become a very valuable plant.
There is also so much to discover around op Oost and along the Wadden Sea.
Together with our gardener Albert, you will discover which edible wild plants and herbs grow around you. Learn about the role birds play in our ecosystem and how you can do your part at home. Discover nature at and around op Oost.

Before you take your seat, I will personally welcome you for a walk through the orchard, vegetable garden and herb garden, where your senses will embark on a journey of discovery. More than an hour of wonder in our Waelde Tuin (4 km from Oost), offering a unique start to your evening at op Oost. And I promise you, you will experience the evening at op Oost differently, with all your senses. And you will never look at an ingredient in quite the same way again....

Tirsa offers a number of wonderful sessions in our orchard, de Waelde Tuin. Surrounded by nature, we use our senses to turn our attention inward, be fully present in the moment and connect with the elements around us.
